SOLE PERMIT FOR AIRBNB

  • A Sole Permit is required for a tourist operation to operate an Airbnb business by virtue of Law 272 of 2003. It is also required to comply with the registration and payment of occupancy tax to the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

PUERTO RICO INSTITUTE OF CULTURE 

  • Certain short-term rental properties located within designated historic districts - including Old San Juan and specific sectors of Santurce — may require a Use Endorsement from the Puerto Rico Institute of Culture (ICP) as part of the permitting and compliance process.

ARCHAELOGICAL AND HISTORICAL PRESERVATION REQUEST

  • Required evaluation process for certain properties to determine archaeological and historic preservation considerations as part of the permitting and compliance review.
